Our read on it
There is something many people do not know and it deserves saying plainly: dark lenses without UV protection are worse than no sunglasses at all. A dark lens widens the pupil, so more ultraviolet gets in, not less. That makes UV400 the only specification that matters here, and it is present. The strap is not a luxury either, since a baby removes glasses in a second.
Pros
- UV400 protection, the only specification that truly matters
- Polarised lenses cut glare off the water
- Adjustable strap stops it being pulled off instantly
- Very inexpensive
Cons
- Very young babies reject anything on the face
- The cheap plastic frame breaks easily
Important safety information
Never leave the glasses on a child unattended: a strap round the head is an entanglement risk during sleep or play, and a broken frame leaves sharp edges. Inspect before every use and replace at the first break. For under six months, shade and a hat matter more than sunglasses.
