Our read on it
Do the arithmetic: this is ten millilitres for a hundred and thirty-six riyals, about thirteen and a half a millilitre, against twenty riyals a millilitre for the 5ml bottle without vitamin D. So the larger bottle is better value per millilitre and gives you the vitamin D as well. Combining two supplements in one bottle removes a daily step, which genuinely helps with a newborn. But read the safety note, because the combination itself needs care.
Pros
- Better value per millilitre than the 5ml bottle
- Combines two supplements in one bottle, one less daily step
- Vitamin D is commonly recommended for breastfed infants
Cons
- Not for a baby already on prescribed vitamin D; see the safety note
- A high total price
- You cannot adjust one dose without the other
Important safety information
The key point: do not combine these drops with any other vitamin D supplement you give your baby. Vitamin D accumulates in the body, and exceeding the safe dose raises blood calcium, a serious condition that affects the kidneys. Most breastfed infants do need vitamin D, but the dose is set by the doctor, not by the bottle. Tell your baby's doctor everything you give her. Probiotics are not suitable for premature or immunocompromised infants. Hard crying together with stalled weight gain, repeated vomiting, blood in the stool or a fever calls for a doctor immediately.
