Our read on it
Sebamed is a brand specialised in sensitive skin care and known for products balanced to the skin's own acidity, a reputation it has earned. Even so, we say it plainly: powder generally is not the recommended tool for nappy care, since a barrier cream is what protects the skin while powder only absorbs moisture. Check the ingredient list to confirm it is talc-free, and read the safety note in full.
Pros
- A brand specialised in sensitive skin care
- A large 400ml pack
- Absorbs moisture in skin folds
Cons
- Does not stop rash, it only soaks up moisture
- A risk of particle inhalation in infants
- Much dearer than the other powder option on this list
Important safety information
Fine powder particles can be inhaled by a baby and cause breathing problems, which is why avoiding powder on infants and relying on a barrier cream is the general advice. Check the ingredient list and avoid any powder containing talc. If you do use it, never shake it over the baby or near their face: put a small amount in your hand away from them and smooth it on. Keep it completely out of children's reach. Avoid the genital area.
